Filming Locations for Drugstore Cowboy
A 2007 project - looking for locations from the Gus Van Sant movie Drugstore Cowboy. I found this interesting because Portland has changed so much since this movie was filmed. The 'Pearl District' used to be a rail yard with a viaduct going over it. For more information about the Lovejoy Viaduct, specifically the columns, go to The Lovejoy Columns Project.

There are a couple locations I have yet to find. Send me an email if you know any of the missing locations.

For this project, I relied heavily on Google Maps and Google Earth. Google Map of the locations.
Opening scene. Converted in 2005 to a coffee shop.
First house, arrival after drug heist.
First house, David's view. Same paint
First house, after police busted it up. Close enough to MLK and Killingsworth
Mothers house - north Portland. Busier - landscaping.
Irving Street Apartments. Condoized in the 90s. One of the first to fall.
Looking north towards on 13th. Now, W+K is located on the street.
Where Panda leads the police. Update 2009 - with PDX condo glut, prices now below 200k, down from 300k
"Hats on the bed." No more viaduct and a lot of new condos.
Irving Street Apartments.
"Did you notice the open transom?" Need to retake
Creating a diversion. Cannot Find - or Legacy has changed that much
Off of MLK - formerly Union Avenue. No more neon sign.
Back of hotel. Seen better days.
Boarded up warehouse. Now, more condos.
Chown hardware (Change Owner?) One of the few things that have not changed, though condoized.
Old St Francis. Taken down in 2005 - new condos.
David beats up a kid. Building to left gone - an empty lot
Super 8 shots at end of movie. Google Earth and triangulation.
